It has a fourth-player problem. The court is booked, three are confirmed, and the match falls apart at seven in the evening because the fourth never turns up. It's the sport where one person short means nobody plays.
How an open match works
- Three spots, not four
- Whoever proposes the match is already in it, so what gets published is the places left. A match one player short is a Nid with one free spot, and it fills as fast as it used to fall through.
- Level matters more here than almost anywhere
- A 2.5 and a 4.0 on the same court aren't playing a match: they're playing two different things at once. Saying it up front is what makes the fourth who turns up the fourth who fits.
