Group trail running in Madrid
Madrid has a piece of luck almost no capital has: real off-road terrain inside the city boundary. You don't need a car to end up running on dirt, and that changes completely what a Tuesday evening can be.
Where people run trail in Madrid
- Casa de Campo
- Seventeen hundred hectares of tracks and singletrack with genuine climbing. The loop around the lake is the usual meeting point, but the interesting part starts when you leave it. It's big enough that going alone isn't much fun if you don't know it.
- Monte de El Pardo
- Open holm-oak country to the north, long kilometres and very few people. Access is restricted across part of it, so going with someone who has run it before saves more than one detour.
- Dehesa de la Villa
- The small, urban version: pines, short climbs and dirt fifteen minutes from the centre. Where the weekday training happens for what gets enjoyed at the weekend.
