Training together in Barcelona

Barcelona is an odd city to train in: the sea and the hills are twenty minutes apart, and hardly anyone goes out alone by choice. The hard part isn't finding somewhere — it's finding who with, and at what time.

Where the city goes

The sea
Barceloneta to the Fòrum, completely flat and right on the water. It's the city's easy mileage, on foot or on wheels, and where most things that start early end up.
Montjuïc and the city
The hill at home: an eight-kilometre loop with real climbing, reachable from half of Barcelona, with the Olympic ring at the top. Gradient without leaving the streets.
Collserola
The range behind the city. The Carretera de les Aigües is a near-flat dirt track hanging above Barcelona; above it the proper hills start, with singletrack and climbing.
