Group mountain biking in Barcelona
Collserola is, without much argument, the best mountain biking any Spanish city has fifteen minutes from its centre. Eight thousand hectares, a network of tracks and trails you won't learn in a day, and a commuter line that carries bikes if you'd rather start at the top.
Where people ride in Barcelona
- Collserola from Sant Cugat
- The far side, more open and with the longer tracks. Where you go when the session is about kilometres rather than descending.
- Collserola from Vallvidrera
- The Barcelona side, steeper, with the web of trails hanging off the Carretera de les Aigües. Easy to reach, easy to get lost in the first time.
- The Garraf
- South, limestone, rock and no shade. A completely different surface: more technical, drier, and with fewer people around to ask if you lose the thread.
- Sant Llorenç del Munt
- The long day inland, with proper mountains involved. The weekend ride that justifies the early start, and not one anybody does alone the first time.
