Group mountain biking in Valencia
Mountain biking in Valencia starts as pine wood and ends as sierra, depending how much time you have. Fifteen minutes out there's track and sand for a weeknight; half an hour out is the Calderona, which is another thing entirely. What's unusual is that you pedal to the first of them from your door.
Where people ride in Valencia
- La Vallesa
- The pine wood between Paterna and Riba-roja, inside the Túria natural park. A network of tracks and paths, little climbing and any loop you like: the city's midweek playground.
- El Vedat de Torrent
- South-west, small and close. Pines, a bit of gradient, and a circuit that repeats well when what you have is an hour and a half.
- Sierra Calderona
- Half an hour north and finally some real climbing, by Portaceli and Nàquera. The weekend ride, and not one to try for the first time on your own.
- La Devesa del Saler
- Forest track and sand between the Albufera and the sea. Absurdly flat, and a different session: there's no comparing your pace on sand with your pace in the pines.
