Group trail running in Valencia
Valencia's trail running isn't mountain running, and that's worth saying up front: the sierra is out in the Calderona, half an hour away by car. What sits on the city's doorstep is pine wood, sand and forest track — which sounds like less and trains you just the same, and which you can reach by metro, something a mountain never offers.
Where people run trail in Valencia
- La Vallesa
- A large pine wood between Paterna and Riba-roja, inside the Túria natural park, with a network of tracks and paths that covers any distance you want. It's the reference point for off-road running in Valencia, and the metro goes to Paterna.
- El Vedat de Torrent
- Smaller and closer, to the south-west. Pines, a bit of gradient and a circuit that repeats well. The weekday option when there isn't time to go further.
- La Devesa del Saler
- Between La Albufera and the sea: forest track, dunes and sand. Running on sand is a different session and everyone notices the next day, so nobody compares their pace here with their pace on the riverbed.
- Parc Natural del Túria
- Upstream of the urban riverbed, the river carries on and turns into a natural park. It's how you link the city to open country on foot, without a car and without a break.
