Group runs in Valencia
If there's one Spanish city where running with strangers is normal, it's this one. The riverbed funnels everyone who runs in Valencia into the same nine-kilometre strip, it's lit and busy until late — nine at night is a sensible time to arrange something here, which it isn't in half of Spain — and it leaves the question as what time and with whom, never where.
Where people run in Valencia
- Jardín del Turia
- The spine of everything. Nine kilometres of park without a car, marked by the kilometre along much of it, and somewhere every session in the city passes sooner or later.
- The seafront and the Malvarrosa
- Port to Patacona, flat and beside the sea. The natural end to a long run that heads down the riverbed to Parque de Cabecera and back.
- Parque de Cabecera
- The western end of the Turia, where the park widens out and stops being a corridor. There's a lake, some gentle climbing, and far fewer people than the central stretches.
- The marathon route
- The fastest course of any major marathon runs through here, and its closing kilometres are training ground all autumn. If you're after pace, that's where the people carrying it are.
